A Personal Update

Over the past year, my focus has been very much at home.

I was caring for my mum during a period of illness, and following her passing in October, I took some time away from writing and updating this space.

At the same time, Lilou began experiencing significant lameness and arthritis challenges. We have been incredibly fortunate that she has come as far as she has, especially considering she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at just six months old.

There was a point where her mobility declined so severely that we were faced with difficult conversations about her quality of life. It was an incredibly worrying time, and one that required careful thought, veterinary guidance, and a great deal of emotional strength.

This led us down a path of research, veterinary consultations, and exploring different support options — including our journey with Librela, supplements, and complementary therapies.

More recently, we received the unexpected news that Lilou has been diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). At present she remains asymptomatic, and we are taking each day thoughtfully while working closely with our vet.

It has been a period of learning, reflection, and adjustment.

This website has always been a place where I share honestly — the good and the difficult — and I will be writing more about Lilou’s progress, what we’ve found helpful, and what we are still navigating.

For now, I wanted to acknowledge the quiet.

Life shifted. My priorities shifted with it.

And now, slowly and thoughtfully, I am returning.
