Taste Tested by the Big Dogs: Our Edgard Cooper Review

By Meo – with Lilou, Pumpkin & Ember

Here at Meo’s World, we’re all about discovering the best products for our four-legged family members. So when the lovely team at Edgard Cooper invited us to work with them we were really excited. They sent us a huge selection of their natural, nutritious dog food and treats, my trusty taste testers — Lilou, Pumpkin & Ember (our Dogue de Bordeaux crew) — were more than happy to dig in. Pumpkin had to sit out the kibble and wet food taste test (he’s currently on a special veterinary diet), but he still got to join in on all the treat testing — which he absolutely loved! 🐶 Lilou is a foodie but Ember is Miss Fussy so lets see how we got on!

From crunchy kibble to mouth-watering wet food, from functional treats to fun flavours, we gave everything a proper sniff, chew, and slobbery review. Here's our honest take, complete with a breakdown of benefits for each type of food, and a little background on the brand we’ve come to love.

🐕 Who Are Edgard Cooper?

Founded in Belgium in 2014, Edgard Cooper was inspired by two real dogs (yes, Edgard and Cooper!) and created by two pet-loving founders, Koen Bostoen and Louis Chalabi, who were frustrated by the low-quality ingredients and unclear labelling in mainstream dog food. They were later joined by Jurgen Degrande, a sales whizz friend.

Their mission? To make dog food that’s good for pets, kind to the planet, and clear about what’s inside.

What Makes Edgard Cooper Stand Out:

  • 🥩 Fresh meat, not meat meal

  • 🌿 Grain-free & hypoallergenic options

  • ♻️ Eco-conscious packaging, everything is recyclable

  • 💚 1% of sales donated to animal charities

  • 🔬 Slow-cooked to retain nutrients

  • 🇧🇪 Made in Europe with ethical sourcing standards

This isn’t just dog food — it’s a brand built around honest ingredients, dog health, and planet-friendly practices.

What We Tried (And Loved)

We were lucky enough to receive a wide selection of Edgard Cooper goodies — dry food, wet food, trays, tins, biscuits, dental chews, and more. Here's a detailed look at what we tried, and how each product supports our dogs’ wellbeing.

Dry Food (Kibble)

We kicked things off with kibble, and it was an instant hit.

1. Succulent Free-Run Chicken

  • 60% fresh free-run chicken

  • With sweet potato, peas, apple, blueberry, and herbs

2. Delicious Venison & Free-Run Duck

  • Fresh venison (a novel protein) and duck

  • With beet pulp, seaweed, and natural fibre sources

As Edgard Cooper put it:

“Fresh meat & nutritious offal – Delicious, nutritious and treated with respect, from farm to bowl.”
“Real fruit & veg – A few cheeky extras to provide vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre.”
“Root vegetables – Energy-packed complex carbohydrates that are easy for dogs to digest.”

These recipes are gently baked to preserve nutrients, making them more digestible and tasty.

🐾 Benefits Breakdown:

  • High-protein from fresh meat (no meat meal!)

  • Prebiotics for healthy digestion

  • Omega 3s from flaxseed for skin & coat

  • Herbal ingredients like rosemary and calendula

  • Grain-free and easy on sensitive tummies

🦴 Ember & Lilou loved both the venison & duck and chicken— it disappeared faster than you could say “dinner”! The kibble was a good size and smelt good.

The kibble smelled fresh and natural and had a satisfying crunch that Ember surprisingly loved, even though she’s usually a fussy eater.

Wet Food: Foil Trays & Tins

Perfect for fussy eaters or dogs who prefer soft meals, these wet food options are rich in moisture, full of flavour, and very easy to serve.

Foil Tray Flavours:

  • Game & Duck

  • Salmon & Turkey

  • Beef & Duck

  • Turkey

  • Chicken & Turkey

  • Beef

  • Lamb & Beef

Tinned Flavours:

  • ASC Salmon & Turkey

  • Lamb & Beef

  • Chicken & Turkey

  • Beef

  • Game & Duck

Each is:

  • Made with 60%+ fresh meat or fish

  • Blended with vegetables, herbs, and superfoods

  • Free from artificial colours, preservatives, or added sugars

🦴 Lilou & Ember adored all of the trays — Lilou even licked the bowl clean twice! The smell and texture looked really good and the quality was evident.

🦴 Lilou & Ember thought the tinned food was great, especially the Lamb & Beef and the Game & Duck, Again the meat smelt good and the texture was really appealing.

🐾 Benefits Breakdown:

  • High moisture content = better hydration

  • Gently cooked for digestibility

  • Rich in nutrients and naturally balanced

  • Easy to portion and store

Biscuits, Bars, Bites & Strips

Treats are a big part of our daily routine — for training, rewards, or just a snack after a walk. Edgard & Cooper's range gave us a lot to love.

Bravo Biscuits

  • Crunchy, oven-baked and full of natural extras

  • No artificial flavours, no grains, no added sugar

  • Flavours:

    • Salmon & Chicken

    • Turkey & Chicken

    • Banana & Peanut Butter

🦴 The Banana & PB was the most popular — Pumpkin couldn’t get enough!

I also loved that the Bravo Biscuits could be easily snapped in half — perfect for sharing or training — and with around 130 treats in each box, they lasted us a good while!

Top Dog Bites

  • Semi-moist and soft — great for training

  • low in calories

  • Grain free recipe

  • Flavours:

    • Chicken

    • Apple & Blueberry

    • Lamb & Turkey

🦴 These were perfect for recall games on our walks — great size and very motivating! All three loved the Apple & Blueberry ! I love the paper packaging.

The meat varieties have a soft feel without being crumbly — perfect for training without mess. Even Ember dropped her toy when she heard the treat pouch open!

Keep It Up Bars

  • Larger, chewy energy bars

  • Great for longer adventures or mid-day fuel

  • High in vitamins

  • Grain free recipe

  • Flavours:

    • Chicken

    • Turkey

    • Lamb & Turkey

    • Apple & Blueberry

🦴 We now keep one in our dog bag at all times — excellent travel snack. Extremely popular with the Gang!

Snuggle Up Strips – Salmon & Chicken

  • Soft, chewy, tearable strips made with real meat

  • Designed for calm, cosy bonding moments

  • Gentle on teeth and easy to digest

🦴 Lilou loved these in the evening — the perfect wind-down treat. These were gentle on her mouth.

🪥 Doggy Dental Chews

  • Cool Mint Oil & Strawberry

  • Crisp Apple & Eucalyptus

Made with natural fibres, fruit oils, and no artificial nasties — these chews help keep teeth clean and breath fresher.

🦴 Pumpkin’s breath noticeably improved — and he happily chewed away.

🐶 Final Thoughts from Meo's World

There’s a lot of dog food out there — but very few brands that combine top-tier nutrition, ingredient integrity, and planet-conscious values like Edgard Cooper. Their food is designed with love, and it shows in everything from the bowl to the bag. What really stands out to me is how Edgard & Cooper puts our dogs’ health at the heart of everything they do — from using fresh, nutritious ingredients to crafting recipes that support digestion, skin, coat, and overall wellbeing. It’s clear they’re not just making food; they’re helping us give our dogs longer, healthier, and happier lives.

Plus, knowing that 1% of every Edgard & Cooper sale goes to support pets in need around the world makes each purchase feel even more meaningful — and with everything made to high EU standards, we can feel confident we’re feeding our dogs food that’s both safe and responsibly made.

Our Final Ratings:
